Is it the perfect time to pack your family up and explore untamed Africa, or the melting pot of different cultures in Europe, or perhaps marvel at the spectacular Rocky Mountains of Canada? As the seasons of time, of work and of school pass, so may opportunities of vacationing as a family unit. Therefore, you may need to ensure that you put forth earnest effort so that you can make an easy transition from not just talking about the trip to actually affording the trip and taking it.

We all know that vacations are not cheap. Not only is the cost of airfare but also the money required at your destination. You’ll need to keep the tickets for your plane flight to a minimum thus ensuring you have ample funds remaining for accommodation, entertainment and meals.
You’ll want to make sure that you think about the date before you pick it. Check there are no major events in the area during that time. If it is a busy period of the year, there is no ways that you’ll be able to find anything cheap.

Another possibility is to go during the week. Weekend getaways tend to be popular and therefore cost more money. Take into account traveling midweek to acquire savings when it comes to accommodation bookings and entertainment tickets.

Additionally airline tickets generally tend to be costly. There are various options that you may be able to take and have a pleasant flight and save money on the price. Keep in mind that you are going to have to do your research to become educated in what precisely a good deal is and what a bad deal is. You’ll soon discover that there are more than a hundred websites that may give you a good airline deal, but you’ll find that each and every one of the offers is unique.

There are numerous ways to secure cheaper airline tickets, but it’s imperative that you do your research and planning. Firstly, allow yourself some time to plan. You may want to start at the beginning of the year to track down the best deals and packages and then to coordinate your bookings. In this way you will be able to beat the vacation rush and get your tickets before they disappear. For instance, during the summer months it can be tricky to get a good flight in and out of a destination area.

Certain things will affect your price and your flight. The time of your departure is one of the prerequisites that will ascertain some of your discounts. Basically, an early morning flight will be cheaper than a flight that is near to being sold out. Keep in mind that there are some sites that search for your flights according to time. So you may not be able to obtain the desired price for the desired time that you wish to leave.

When it comes to finding the deals, you’ll also want to check with travel agents, because they will be able to hook you up with some great deals that you may not find online. Travel agents offer many advantages that websites may not have. Due to their business longevity, travel agents have established relationships with many airlines and tourism operators so thus they can offer you discount rates that you just wouldn’t secure online. Personalized service is one of the greatest advantages of dealing through an agency.

So, by being flexible in your travel dates and departure time, by booking your reservations early and dealing through a travel agent you may increase your chances of getting the lowest fares possible and finally treating your family to that overseas vacation.

By Harry Raymond Cowperthwaite

If you are planning on flying home or vacationing somewhere during the holidays, attending a wedding or going on a cruise, make sure you begin shopping early for flights. In the last few years, airlines have been cutting back on their capacity, which means there are fewer seats available for holiday or peak-season flights.

You can probably get away finding and booking your flight at the last minute if you are going on an out-of-the-blue trip. However, if your family is expecting you home for Christmas or New Year’s Day, or you are going to be your best friend’s maid of honor at her wedding, or you and your spouse finally decided to splurge on a 10-day cruise, you will need to find and book your flight no less than 6 weeks ahead.

According to Internet booking gurus, Monday and Tuesday are the best days to shop for flights online. It’s because airlines usually lower their fares early during the week and then raise them again as the weekend nears. You can begin your search for a great deal on a flight with the help of a search engine like Kayak, which does a comprehensive airfare search. Kayak will turn up a list of flights that have the best schedules and prices.

If you want to save on a flight, you can book a flight that goes out from a smaller airport. The airfares from these outlying airports tend to be cheaper, and the parking tends to be also. If your schedule permits, fly on off-peak days. For example, if you are trying to book a flight so you can be home for Thanksgiving, avoid booking your flight the Wednesday prior to and the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Know that these two days are peak travel days and tend to be expensive.

Search engines aren’t the only places you should look for flights. Go to the airline websites. Booking search engines make a commission from the airlines every time travelers book a flight through them so you’re likely to find the best air fares posted on the airline websites themselves. Sometimes airlines have specials that aren’t visible in other search engines. Typically, these specials are unadvertised and good for a short time only.

Avoid itineraries requiring you to get on connecting flights or switch airlines. You’re likely to miss a connection this way. Sure, you save a few dollars if things go well, but what if things don’t go so well? If it’s only going to be a few extra bucks to book a non-stop or direct flight — take it! If you can, catch the first flight. It’s the flight that’s least likely to get delayed.

If you are planning on a trip at the last minute, book your flight no less than 24 hours before you need to be at your destination (e.g., a holiday, wedding or cruise). If you’re booking connecting flights, make sure you have plenty of time to get on the next plane even if the first plane is delayed. Search for a connection time of at least 2 hours.

Be aware that the airline won’t compensate you if you happen to book a flight that’s delayed due to the weather. What most airlines do is get their passengers on the next available flight. However, that next flight may be the next day so if you didn’t give yourself enough time and fail to anticipate such delays, you’ll miss the cruise or your best friend’s wedding. So be smart when you are booking a flight online. Start your search early and book your flight well ahead of time.

By Vincent Norman

Are your lads and lasses ready to go back to school? Okay, maybe they’re not exactly thrilled with the idea. But helping them to get kitted out can make the process more bearable. Learning can be more fun when they’re sporting new gear. Here are some tips for buying back-to-school attire for your children:

1. When in doubt, ASK

If you are uncertain about anything that the online store’s website doesn’t address, then you should contact the customer service department before making a purchase. For instance, perhaps you have questions about making precise measurements, or caring for certain garments.

2. Carefully review the return policy of a website

Some stores provide refunds, while others only allow for exchanges. It’s particularly important to learn if you’d have to pay for the shipping on returns. Sometimes you can return the item to the store directly, if offline branches exist. You may even be able to use shipping labels that are pre-paid, saving you a trip to the post office.

3. Get a good tape measure and measure your child precisely

This will save you time, money, and effort. Failing to get the size right means that you’ll need to return the product (IF it’s allowed), ultimately spending extra money to make your purchase. Get a quality tape measure, measure your child, and then check the size chart of a website to determine the right size for your kid.

4. Register for children’s attire websites online

This allows you to receive information about special offers, through e-mail or snail mail. You could receive online coupons, free shipping, and so on.

5. Contact an online store before returning items due to the store’s mistake

For instance, perhaps they sent the wrong color, size, or items. If the store made the error, then they may send you a shipping label that will allow you to ship the product back gratis. Yes, it may take a while to receive the label, but it’s definitely worth saving money due to someone else’s error!

6. When prices fall, remember that children grow

Towards the end of a particular season, such as in the summertime, you may find some great deals on certain items. Since kids grow (seemingly overnight sometimes), in such a situation it’s wise to buy some clothes that are one size higher. This allows you to save a huge amount of money.

7. Search for coupon codes

In an online search engine, type in the name of your favorite site for children’s clothing. Then follow it with the words "coupon code." You may have to search for a while, as some coupons may have expired or the coupons aren’t compatible for your shopping needs. However, these coupons are certainly worth the extra effort as they can help you to save a copious amount of money.

Returning to school will end the lazy days of summer that your kids have been enjoying for three months. However, shopping online to help kit them out in their favorite gear will earn you an A+ from them!

When buying essential baby products, you have to consider convenience as well as choice. It is too late to start thinking about such things when the ambulance arrives at the door, or when your partner is trying to fit you into the car while you are convulsing with contractions.

You want to enjoy this very exciting time in your life, and not be worrying about whether you have the baby carriage delivered yet or the cot all set up for new arrival when you proudly bring her or him home. It should all have been arranged already, and an online baby mall is the ideal way to get this done.

Advance preparation is essential when buying baby products and many women start their plans as soon as they get the positive result from their doctor. The first step is to let all your friends and relatives know so that they get used to the idea, especially mom and dad. I say ‘especially’ because they will likely be part of your plans.

Once you have worked out everything you need, including the baby carriage, stroller, crib bedding, layette and everything else needed for a new baby, including bottle, sterilizer, formula etc., you should write it all down. As the months go by you will add to that list, and then deduct from it as your friends and family either give you stuff, or tell you what they are buying for your baby shower. It is that which will allow you to finalize your shopping list.

That is when you have to either visit baby shops or simple log on to an online baby mall. An online baby mall holds several advantages over a shopping mall, such as:

1. You can shop from the comfort of your sofa. That is a great comfort for a new mother with a baby to look after, or even a mother-to-be with only a month or so to go.

2. You have a full range of products at your fingertips and you can compare them online – along with their prices that could also be important.

3. You get a lot of information about the products you are buying and also safety information that isn’t always easy to get from mall baby store.

4. You can pay online and arrange delivery online. In fact you can go through the whole process of selecting your product, paying for it and arranging delivery while you are resting on your sofa watching’ Friends’.

However, there is more to preparing for your new baby than just buying a stroller or baby buggy. If you have a separate nursery room set aside for your new bundle of joy, you have to decorate it and furnish it with items such as drawer cabinets to hold the little ones new clothes, room decorations, toys – what child ever grew up without a teddy? Then there are the mundane items such as bottle sterilizers, diapers and all the creams and lotions that tots seem to need during and after bath time. An online baby mall can offer all of these.

Personalized gifts are another item that many grandparents and friends think of at this time. They are given in love, and parents cherish them. The keep such personalized baby gifts in their lounge display cabinets along with their children’s first shoes, swimming medals, school diplomas and every other milestone that mars their children’s lives. Personalized gifts are not something that you can plan to give, but you can plan to receive them and where to keep and cherish them.

Yet there is a massive number of things to consider when you first find that you are to have a baby, and none of the above will likely be among your initial priorities. However, they have to be considered eventually, and it is therefore all the better that you can turn to a one-stop-shop in the form of an online baby mall that can offer you everything you need on the one website.

The last thing you want to do when waiting for your child to be born, or even immediately after he or she has been born, is to hunt around the shops looking for everything you need to look after your baby properly. An online baby mall is the ideal answer and you can browse through it, choose what you want, make payment and arrange delivery without having to get onto your feet, let alone squeeze into and drive the car and the slog around a shopping mall until you find what you want.

Buying essential baby products from an online baby mall is far easier, and less tiring on you and baby. Incidentally, it’s also cheaper!

Easing your young child out of your care and into school can be stressful and emotional for parents and children alike and end in crying and clingy childish behavior, (mostly from the children, although I did shed a tear when mine started). As parents we would all really like to see our children walk into their new environment with some confidence and eagerness to make friends and learn new things. Here are five tried and tested tips to help.

1. Be prepared;

It is really important to get to know what is expected of you and your child before they start school, so that you don’t tell your child one thing and the school says another. You will be invited to a school visit whether as a group at the start of the term or individually if starting in the middle of the term. It is usually possible for your child to have previously made a few friends before they start, which can help children settle in quicker.

2. Be in a good routine;

To make sure that your child’s body clock is ready for the school run, it’s always a good idea to start adjusting to the same time frame as school some days before they start school. Having tired and grumpy children obviously will not help and children who are rushing out of the house in the morning and dropped off in a hurry often get anxious and irritable because they don’t have enough time to adjust.

3. Stay Positive;

It is important to stay positive as we saw in the above example. Even if you feel miserable (or over joyed) about your children starting school, try not to let it show. Children need to feel that you are happy about them going off to school or being away from you so that they don’t worry about you or feel that they are missing out on some other fun.

4. Tell them what you want them to do;

Letting children know how you want them to behavior in a positive way is really helpful, such as “Sharing the toys” rather than what you don’t want such as, “Don’t go fighting and don’t be naughty”, Explaining as much as you think they will understand helps them to be well prepared.

5. The goodbye routine;

Having a set goodbye routine is so useful because you know what you are doing and can stay calm and assertive and your child will soon get to know what is expected of them and settle much quicker. Here are some tips;

• Arrive on time, or a few minutes early if allowed. This will give you time to help your child to hang up their coat and put their belongings away in a calm manor. Or if they have to line up outside they can meet the other children in the playground which can be a good distraction.

• Follow the settings routine, some schools will allow you to stay for a few minutes and encourage the children to start to play. Others will want all the children to go and sit together for the register, or line up outside and come in as a class.

• Say good bye, when leaving your child, so that they don’t loose trust in you if you sneak off. It will depend on the class routine as to how you leave and if you are concerned talk to the teacher in private away from your child about how to go about things.

• Stay Positive Your child will look to you for assurance that they will be OK so a few reassuring words such as, you will be OK, mummy will be back for you soon, your friends are waiting to play, or go and paint daddy a picture and I will come back for it, (although not all at the same time) will all help them to get in a positive mindset. Don’t be tempted to shame them into going in happily and say things like, oh don’t be a baby, look Sammy’s not crying, don’t be silly or anything else negative because this will make them feel negative and knock their confidence.

• Set the boundaries as children don’t know them and you will put your child at ease if they know them, so be careful not to accidentally reward crying and clingy behaviour by staying as this will prolong the agony and children quickly realise that if they make a fuss mummy or daddy will stay a little longer.

• Pass your child to the teacher. If your child is starting to cry and cling to you, ask the teacher to take them from you. This is when your positive approach will really help your child to calm down. A receptive teacher will hold their hand or won’t mind you handing them over and offer some encouragement. As you find that they start to settle in the morning you can encourage them to sit or play with a friend or line up with the others.

• Give them praise for their efforts. When you pick your child up again from school, it is really encouraging to give them some praise for their efforts from going into school, even if they cried a little. Find something that they did well, such as ‘you were very good putting your bag on your peg this morning’, and pay little attention to their crying. This way they will feel pleased with themselves and want to repeat good behaviour.

Hope this helps best of luck to all little ones starting school soon and their moms and dads!!
